Rockhurst Reader:

The Squawk

IMG_7355.JPG

The Spring 2026 Issue of The Squawk is the newest addition of the Rockhurst Reader since The Talon was published in 2024. This is the first edition in what the English Department hopes will be a revitalized annual work done by Rockhurst English students for the Rockhurst Community as a whole. Our team of editors have poured their passion and creativity into this project that they hope encapsulates the spirit of reflection and cultivation of the arts that Rockhurst champions. They are grateful for the ingenuity and written prowess displayed by the authors, poets, and artists that brought together this wonderful inaugural issue of The Squawk

ABOUT US

Founded in 2018, the Rockhurst Literary Journal has had many iterations, but starting in 2026, it took on the name The Squawk. The Squawk is a student-led literary journal that amplifies the creative voices of Rockhurst University students. We accept and publish poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, visual art, and photography. With a play on Rockhurst’s mascot, The Hawks, The Squawk represents a space where students can boldly share their work, express their experiences, and contribute to a growing creative community.

The Squawk is sponsored by Rockhurst University’s English Department.
